We Celebrated the Library's 75th Anniversary with an Open House on May 4, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
75 years ago a spirited group headed by Dr. Maurice M. Pine started the library with a small collection of books in a room next to his office.  The following year the Mayor and Council provided a room in the Municipal Building and, in 1944, the library came under municipal control.  Since then the library has grown, supported by Fair Lawn citizens, to become one of the best in the county.
On Sunday, May 4, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. we had a wonderful celebration with entertainment, refreshments, presentations about the library, chances to win gift baskets, and children's activities. The library was mobbed and everyone had a great time.  We couldn't have a better community!  Thanks to all who volunteered, staff members, Friends of the Library, members of the press, and everyone who came to share our celebration.  Click to see lots of photos on a remote site.
Please visit the library's 75th Anniversary website designed by staff member Mary Kirsch.  You'll find lots of interesting facts and pictures about our library's history.
