Free Wi-Fi Access at Fair Lawn Library
Free Wi-Fi access is now available at Fair Lawn’s Maurice M. Pine Library, 10-01 Fair Lawn Avenue, through the cooperation of Cablevision, the Library and the Friend of the Library.   Cablevision provides the free Internet access, and the library and Friends group picked up the costs of installation.  Users can bring their wireless-enabled laptop computers – or other wireless devices – to the library and get on the Internet for free. The computer will automatically recognize the wireless network, and access is available throughout the building.  In addition the library has 7 public Internet stations which can be used for limited-time sessions, and two word processors for public use.

Library Director Timothy Murphy comments that the library is committed to providing free access to information and that wi-fi access to the Internet offers ever-widening opportunities for learning and sharing information.  The Pine Library’s electronic resources are all in public areas and must be used in way consistent with the library’s mission.  Use of the wireless connection, including virus and security protection, is entirely at the risk of the user.  As electrical outlets are limited it is suggested that wi-fi access users bring a full battery pack.

The Albert and Shirley Rosen Children's Room
The Children’s Room at Fair Lawn’s Maurice M. Pine Library is now the Albert & Shirley Rosen Room. That area of the library has been renamed in honor of Dr. Albert Rosen and the memory of his wife, Shirley T. Rosen.  “The renaming is our way of honoring Dr. Rosen for his contribution to the community as valued pediatrician to generations of Fair Lawn children and their parents,“ states Library Director Timothy H. Murphy.  In addition, Dr. Rosen is an avid reader and staunch library supporter.  He recently established a generous endowment at the library in memory of his wife through the library‘s endowment program.

Albert and Shirley T. Rosen came to Fair Lawn in 1949, and Dr. Rosen was the pediatrician for thousands of children until he retired last summer.  The Rosens enriched the community with their remarkable professional dedication, as well as with their wide ranging interests and commitments.  For more information about the Rosen Children’s Room or the library endowment program, please contact Tim Murphy at (201) 796-0683.
