Once you are registered START
READING

Come to the library anytime to register between June
24 & July 18. You must be a Fair Lawn resident and you must bring
a current library card to register.

Receive a Gallery Guide Book and START READING.
-
Read everyday & mark off a step in your Gallery
Guide for every 15 minutes read.
-
Every week you finish your reading you will receive
a prize.
-
Finish all 6 weks of reading & receive a grand
prize, a certificate & a ticket to the end-of-summer party.
-
Participants have until Weds, September 2 to collect
all their prizes.
-
Gallery Guides can be checked on a weekly basis or
less frequently.
Daily
Programs for Grades K and Up
Discovery
Day
Mondays 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Join us for fun and learning as we do interesting
activities exploring science, nature and math. Everyweek will be a different
theme. See the Children's Department for a full schedule.
Craft Day
Tuesdays 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Children will construct an assortment of craft
projects. Supplies are limited to 40 kids. Please dress for
mess. On August 11, we will be tie dying and the children need
to bring a white cotton T-shirt to dye.
Be Creative
with Books
Tuesdays 7:00-7:45 p.m. & Fridays 11:00-11:45
A vry special interactive story time featuring
all the creative arts. Music, art and imagination will all be part
of the fun.
Movie Day
Wednesday, 2:00-3:30 p.m.
Popular films will be shown with our big-screen
projector. Please consult our "Movie Listings" poster for the title
from week to week. Movies will be shown all summer, both before and after
the program. July 1- September 2.
Book Bingo
Thursdays, 2:00-2:45 p.m. and 7:30-8:15
p.m.
Play bingo on a board related to all of your
favorite book characters. Win prizes of books!
Game Day
Fridays, 2:00- 3:00 p.m.
A variety of indoor and outdoor games will be
played, concluding with the Library Olympics on August 14.
Programs
for Older Kids
Registration is required
for the following. Class size is limited, so please do not register
unless you can commit to attending.

Drama Club.
Grades 3 and Up
Thursdays, 4:00-5:00
p.m. July 6-August 13
Bring out the performer in you! We will
learn some basic actinb skills and develop and perform a play for the public
on our last day of class, August 13.
Poetry
Palooza. Grades 3-5
Wednesdays, 4:00-5:00
p.m. July 8-August 12
Participants will explore
examples of great poetry and let their imaginations soar as they create
their own. All writers need to bring a marble composition book
with them to the first class.
Family
Computer Training. Grades 3 and Up
Wednesdays, 4:00-5:00 p.m. or by appointment
Children and parents learn how to operate the
various computers in the Children's Room including the online catalog,
Internet and magazine searching. Register for a one time hands-on
session.
Cool Crafts.
Grades 4 and Up
Wednesday Evenings,
July 8 & 15, 7:00-8:00 p.m.
We will be offering two special craft classes
just for older kids. Please do not register unless you can attend
both weeks.
Scrapbooking
Wednesday, August
26, 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Bring your pictures and summer memories.
Use our supplies and ideas. NO registration.
End of
Summer Bash~ OZ!
Monday, August 17, either 4:00-5:00
p.m. or 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Hooray! You have finished all of your reading
and now it's time to celebrate with OZ, a play performed by Youth Stages.
You must have a ticket to attend this event. Last day to receive
tickets will be Saturday, August 15. No tickets will be distributed
on party day! There are two choices of party time: 4:00 to
5:00 p.m. or 7:00 to 8:00 p.m

Marafanyi Percussion will lead us on an interactive
cultural journey from West Africe. Learn Rhythms, dances & songs.
Paperbag
Dramatics
Tuesday, July 28, 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Get your creative juices flowing with creative
dramatics! Participants will be divided into groups, given a paper
bag filled with props & will brainstorm a play.
Storytelling
Concert
Wednesday, August 5, 7:00-7:45 p.m.
Art starts with a story. Join professional
storyteller Julie Della Torre as she shares a story behind a dance, an
opera, a sculpture, a painting and a symphony.
Fun with
Sidewalk Chalk
Monday, August 10, 4:00-4:45 p.m.
Learn to tell a draw-story and then just let
loose helping us decorate the library's driveway. Raindate:

Idol
Tuesday, August 18, 2:00-3:00 p.m.
You can be a star! Come to the library
to perform a song. You can lip-sync or actually sing. A karaoke
machine and our sound system will be available. Feel free to bring your
own (G-rated, please!) music with you.
No registration is required.
Book
Groups
Battle
of the Books, Grades 4-6
Read as many books from
the battle list as you can. Then join us for a quiz show game based
on the books. Win fabulous prizes! The library will have some
paperback copies of the books on hand or we can help you order the titles
from other libraries. All reading will be done independently.
The
actual battle will take place on Wednesday, August 19, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
